The TVS Apache RTR 200 is the flagship offering from the Hosur based two-wheeler giant and among the best entry-level performance bikes on sale in India. Though one can say that TVS made its fans wait a long-time for the bigger displacement Apache but the wait was worth it. The styling is chiselled and sharp while maintaining the design DNA of the Apache family and is a good looking motorcycle. The Apache RTR 200 also gets LED DRLs and an all-digital instrument cluster with a lap timer and top speed recorder being the standout features. The new TVS motorcycle has been priced at Rs 1.01 lakh for the base variant and competes against the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and the new Yamaha FZ25. We expect the fuel injected version and ABS variant to be launched by end of this year.
The Apache RTR200 is offered in two engine variants – carburettor and fuel injection. Talking about power, the new TVS bike delivers 20PS for the carb variant and the FI variant produces marginally more power at 21PS. The 200cc Apache is also the first TVS production offering to get 4 valves. The RTR200 also gets two tyre options – TVS tyres are standard and Pirelli tyres are optional. It delivers a mileage figure between 40 and 45kmpl in real world conditions which is impressive for a 200cc motorcycle. The Apache RTR200 is a good option as a city commuter and the supple ride quality makes it a good touring option as well.
